  • Prep Time: 15m
  • Cook Time: 35m

Ingredients

  • 2 recipes Southern Baked Pie dough
  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 c ketchup

Instructions

  1. Prepare two recipes of Southern Baked Pie dough, per package instructions. Set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Place the meat and onion in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Cook, while breaking up the meat with a spoon, until it is no longer pink, meat is browned, and the onions are softened, approximately 8-10 minutes. Drain excess grease from meat.
  6. Mix in the mustard, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
  7. Roll out dough into two 12-inch circles. Cut five hand-size football shapes out of each circle for a total of 10 footballs. Reroll the scraps if needed to get all ten football shapes. Place five football shapes on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mix evenly onto each shape, leaving a ¼” margin without mix.
  9. Place five remaining football shapes over the mixture and press around the edges with a fork to seal the dough.
  10. Using a sharp knife, cut slits in the top of each football to make it look like the laces of a football.
  11. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
