Honey Pecan Spread with Bourbon Bacon Crostinis

Ingredients

Honey Pecan Spread

  • 5 1/3 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 tbsp. local honey, plus more for garnish
  • 2 tbsp. pecan halves, chopped
  • 1 French baguette, cut into ½” thick slices and toasted
  • bourbon bacon (below)
  • 1/2 c diced Cosmic Crisp apples
  • 1/4 c toasted pecans

Bourbon Bacon

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 4 tbsp. pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp. bourbon
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard

Instructions

Honey Pecan Spread

  1. With a mixer, beat the cream cheese and honey.
  2. Fold in the pecan pieces by hand.
  3. Spread onto toasted baguette slices.
  4. Top with bourbon bacon, toasted pecans and apples.
  5. Store the spread in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 6 days.

Bourbon Bacon

  1. Mix maple syrup, bourbon, brown sugar and mustard in a bowl.
  2. Coat bacon in the mixture.
  3. Line a cookie sheet with parchment or foil and a baking rack.
  4. Place bacon on top of the rack and bake at 350 F for 15 minutes.
  5. Flip bacon and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until it starts to stiffen.
  6. Let cool before cutting into small pieces.
