Ingredients
Simple Syrup
- 1 c water
- 1 c granulated sugar
- 3 to 4 sprigs fresh rosemary
Lemonade
- 4 c cold water
- 1 c fresh squeezed lemon juice (4 to 6 large lemons)
- ice cubes
- additional rosemary springs, optional for garnish
- additional lemon slices, optional for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture comes to a boil.
- Remove the pot from the heat and add the fresh rosemary sprigs. Cover the pot and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature to let the flavors infuse, about 1 hour. TIP: The longer it steeps, the stronger the rosemary flavor.
- Once cooled, strain the syrup into a large pitcher to remove the springs and any loose leaves.
- To the pitcher, add the fresh lemon juice and cold water. Stir well to combine.
- Taste the lemonade and adjust as needed. Add more water to make less tart or add more lemon juice if too sweet.
- If possible, chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve over ice.
- Garnish with a lemon slice and extra rosemary, if desired.
