Raisin Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 c raisins
  • 1 3/4 c water
  • 1/3 c firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp. distilled white vinegar

Instructions

  1. Add the raisins and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, cornstarch, and spices. Add the sugar mixture into the saucepan with the raisins. Cook, stirring until thickened, for about 5 minutes more.
  3. Blend in the vinegar and stir until combined.
  4. Serve warm with a ham steak or pork, especially a thin, fried chop.
