Ingredients
- 2 recipes Southern Baked Pie dough
- 1 lb ground chuck
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp. yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 c ketchup
Instructions
- Prepare two recipes of Southern Baked Pie dough, per package instructions. Set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place the meat and onion in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook, while breaking up the meat with a spoon, until it is no longer pink, meat is browned, and the onions are softened, approximately 8-10 minutes. Drain excess grease from meat.
- Mix in the mustard, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
- Roll out dough into two 12-inch circles. Cut five hand-size football shapes out of each circle for a total of 10 footballs. Reroll the scraps if needed to get all ten football shapes. Place five football shapes on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Spoon the Sloppy Joe mix evenly onto each shape, leaving a ¼” margin without mix.
- Place five remaining football shapes over the mixture and press around the edges with a fork to seal the dough.
- Using a sharp knife, cut slits in the top of each football to make it look like the laces of a football.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
