Spiced Monte Cristo

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf brioche bread, cut into 1" slices
  • Jones’ Cranberry Sauce, optional
  • 1 1/2 c shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 10 slices ham
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin spice
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla paste
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1 c heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • powdered sugar, optional

Instructions

  1. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and lay out the slices of bread.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, water, vanilla paste, pumpkin spice and nutmeg.
  3. On half of the slices of bread, add two slices of ham and 1 Tbsp shredded cheese to each.
  4. Spread cranberry sauce over the top of the bread, if using.
  5. Cover the topped bread with the remaining slices of bread.
  6. Using tongs, coat both sides of bread with the egg mixture.
  7. Spray a medium skillet with butter spray and heat to medium.
  8. Grill sandwiches on both sides until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Repeat until all sandwiches are grilled.
  10. For garnish, lightly dust powdered sugar over top.
